Major roadworks in Doreen have recently been completed, with commuters now able to enjoy a smoother, safer drive.

Victoria’s Big Build has officially signed off on the new lanes of the Bridge Inn Road Upgrade, with the opening of the additional lanes between Painted Hills Road and Garden Road.

The three-year project sought to improve the safety of the major road and double its traffic capacity by adding extra lanes in each direction, creating a designated walking and cycling path, and installing traffic lights and safety barriers among other improvements.

Though ahead of schedule, the project is not yet complete, with crews to continue finalising minor works such as landscaping over the coming months.

Major Road Projects Victoria Program Director Dipal Sorathia was excited to be celebrating the milestone, and looked forward to its completion.

“We are pleased to have completed major works on the Bridge Inn Road Upgrade ahead of schedule with the opening of all lanes,” he said.

“We thank the community for its patience during these important works. We now look forward to completing the project’s finishing touches in the coming months.”
