Next month, the Kilmore Men’s Shed will open their doors to prospective members for their annual open day.
Located at 2 Hunts Road, Kilmore, the Kilmore Men’s Shed operates under the Australian Men’s Shed Association (AMSA), which supports over 1200 men’s sheds across the nation.
According to the association, the modern men’s shed is thought to be an ‘updated version of the shed in the backyard that has long been a part of Australian culture,’ which Kilmore Men’s Shed Secretary Paul McAllister would have to agree with.
“The men’s shed is a place where men from all backgrounds [and] talents gather to build various items on hand or donated. The finished products or items come from requests from groups and individuals within the Kilmore area and surrounds,” he said.
“All members are volunteers. The social element provides support and an understanding when needed.
“Our open day provides an opportunity for the community to see what we do supporting the community. Our activities are ongoing weekly, giving a sense of achievement for our members in supporting the community.”
The open day will run from 9am–1pm, on Saturday, October 26.
