Investigations are continuing into a series of thefts that occurred late last month in the Wallan, Heathcote Junction, and Beveridge townships.
The first theft occurred on July 17 between 4am and 5am, when an unknown offender hitched up and stole an orange plant machine trailer with yellow Komatsu Excavator on board that was parked on the road in Liberty Cres, Beveridge.
The offender hitched the trailer up to a white Mitsubishi Triton containing another two unknown offenders.
The second theft occurred on July 19 between 7pm and 11pm when an unknown offender unscrewed the registration plates and stole them from a grey Mitsubishi ASX parked on Raglan Street, Wallan.
The third theft occurred on July 20 at 8.30am when an unknown female entered the United Service Station in Wallan carrying a dark coloured bag and stole several food and drink items valuing $73.
The fourth theft occurred on July 21 when unknown offenders removed and stole approximately 2500m of copper wire from the railway line in Heathcote Junction near Arkells Lane to a value of $8000.
It is not known whether these incidents are related. Anyone with further information about these incidents is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Police remind the community to affix one-way screws to their registration plates to deter offenders. The screws can be collected from a local police station.
