Kilmore Bowls Club once again opened its doors for the annual Kilmore Open Fours Tournament at the weekend for a day of friendly bowling competition.

The club welcomed 16 teams and 64 players from across the state to compete for a prize pool of $1000 as the tournament returned after a brief COVID-induced hiatus.

Organiser and Kilmore member Kevin Power said the club was ‘thrilled to pieces’ to be able to host an event of such a scale.

“These things don’t just happen, there’s a lot of work that goes into it. I’m thrilled that everyone’s turned up and they’re all playing in good spirits, which is wonderful,” he said.

The day’s format comprised three games of 10 ends, with a prize of $600 on offer for the winning team and a spate of other prizes for second, third, and best last game.

Among the clubs in attendance were locals including Broadford, Wallan, Seymour VRI, Lalor, and Whittlesea, alongside more distant competitors including Brunswick, Melbourne Cricket Club, Thornbury, Echuca, Croydon, Hurstbridge, and Shepparton Golf.

Multiple Kilmore players were also in action on the day; however, they played in combined teams with friends and former teammates from other clubs.
