Kilmore man charged after trees cut down

A Kilmore man, 65, has been charged after two newly-planted trees were cut down in Kilmore on February 6.

Police allege the trees were damaged along Sydney Street at about 8am.

The man was arrested on Friday and has been charged with two counts of criminal damage.

He was bailed to appear at Seymour Magistrates’ Court on June 8.

Senior Sergeant Chad Garcia, of Kilmore police, said the incident was a timely reminder that police took community concerns and expectations seriously, and any such allegations would be promptly and thoroughly investigated.

The two new trees, valued at $1500, were part of Mitchell Shire Council’s Sydney Street Rejuvenation Project.
