A man who evaded police multiple times in Melbourne’s north-west has been arrested at Tallarook last night.
The police air wing followed the driver, who was detected travelling at speeds allegedly in excess of 200 km/h, before Critical Incident Response Team officers arrested the man in his vehicle on the Hume Freeway at about 10pm.
Police initially responded to a call from a concerned community member reporting the driver of a black Audi allegedly driving erratically along Newland Street, Altona Meadows just before 7.30pm yesterday.
Werribee Police attempted to intercept the driver who took-off at speed west along Newland Street.
Police have charged the driver, a 22-year-old Roxburgh Park man, with multiple charges including conduct endangering life, exposure of emergency worker to risk by driving, speeding in a manner dangerous, dangerous driving while being pursued and other traffic and criminal offences, including theft.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear Werribee Magistrates’ court later today.
