A truck driver has suffered a suspected medical episode just after 1pm today, taking out a power pole, powerlines and signs along the north end of Sydney Street Kilmore.
Paramedics have taken the driver to the Northern Hospital.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said paramedics were called to the incident at about 1.15pm.
“A male believed to be in his 40s is being transported to the Northern Public Hospital in a stable condition,” she said.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing the driver slumped over the driving wheel as he veered to the west side of the street, crashing into a power pole, taking down a power line crossing the street and several signs, in front of the Fox on the Run Motel and Coles Express Shell service station.
One man walking along the footpath in Sydney Street was forced to run out of the way from the out-of-control truck.
A power pole from in front of the motel was carried more than 50 metres to eventually land on the road in front of the service station.
A live power line remains across the street as emergency services have stopped traffic between Union Street and Clarke Street.
Delays are expected in Sydney Street, also the Northern Highway, until the scene is cleared.
