Donnybrook cricket facilities receive funds for upgrade

Popular Stories

OLIVINE Reserve in Donnybrook and its young cricketers will benefit from improved cricket facilities through funding from the Community Cricket Program – Cricket Facilities stream.

Member for Yan Yean Danielle Green visited the reserve last week to announce $100,000 in funding to upgrade facilities at Olivine Reserve.

The funding will enable the City of Whittlesea to partner with Mirvac to construct a brand new three-lane cricket training net facility, built to Cricket Victoria infrastructure guidelines, to meet the sporting needs for a rapidly growing local population.

“We’re getting on with the job of creating better facilities for our next generation, so they can emulate their sporting heroes like the Australian women’s cricket team who, in 2020, won the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Final on home soil,” Ms Green said.

“This funding will inspire even more local boys, girls, men and women to get active and enjoy the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle.”

By supporting the modernisation of sporting facilities, the State Government is giving grassroots communities the opportunity to cater for Victorians keen to do their communities proud.

Minister for Community Sport, Ros Spence recently announced applications were now open for the fourth and final round of the $13.5 million Community Cricket Program.
