LANCEFIELD Neighbourhood House will host a gathering on Sunday for new residents in the area to meet new people and socialise with their new neighbours.

Romsey Neighbourhood House will also host a new residents’ event on April 18.

Neighbourhood house coordinator Vivien Phillpotts said the event was ultimately an expo for Lancefield.

“[The event is] providing an opportunity for organisations, businesses and services to showcase everything Lancefield has to offer. Creating an opportunity for all residents to learn about what is available in the town and to welcome people who have recently moved in,” she said.

“This is the second new residents’ event after a very successful evening was held in the hall in 2019.

“This year the event will be at Lancefield Park between 3 and 5pm and will also be an opportunity to celebrate everyone being able to come together after 12 months of no community events.

“There will be free children’s entertainment on the day, including a jumping castle and face painting.

“Local coffee and ice-cream vendors will be onsite and the Mexican food van, which is a fundraiser for the One Voice youth project will be available to get a late lunch or early dinner.”

Ms Phillpotts said the event would follow COVID-safe guidelines.

“We ask people to support us with social distancing and following other instructions provided on the day. We will move everything into the Laurie Green Pavilion if the weather is not good,” she said.

Ms Phillpotts said organisations and businesses which would like to be involved can contact the neighbourhood house on 5429 1214.
