Romsey finished the Gisborne and District Cricket Association McIntyre Cup season on the right note with a comfortable nine-wicket win over St Anthony’s.

After bowling out St Anthony’s for 140 on day one and finishing the day 0/73, the Redbacks were in control from the first ball on day two.

Romsey got off to a great start with a 105-run partnership between Matthew Milne and Will Collins before Cameron Clayton ended the partnership, bowling Collins for 71.

Milne and Taylor Stevenson finished the run chase with ease and kept going until Milne was dismissed for 51 with Romsey 2/172.

Stevenson and Sean Day put on 68 before Stevenson was bowled for 74.

Day finished the innings unbeaten on 66 as the Redbacks finished day two 7/307.

Despite the big win, it wasn’t enough to get Romsey into the McIntyre Cup finals as the Redbacks finished fifth on the ladder, 21 points behind Bacchus Marsh.

Gisborne will host Bacchus Marsh and Diggers Rest Bulla will host Sunbury United in the McIntyre Cup semi-finals on SatuRday and Sunday.
