Wallan bowler Steve Bell prepares to unleash a ball against Bacchus Marsh at Greenhill Reserve in Wallan on Saturday.

Wallan wasn’t able to get enough time to attempt a run chase on day two of its Johnstone Shield match against Bacchus Marsh at Greenhill Reserve.

Day one was abandoned at the tea break with Bacchus Marsh in control at 2/75 and it took the Magpies another half a day to finish the job, bowling out the Bulls for 160 from 82.4 overs.

Two Wallan bowlers took all the wickets, with Jai Weshal taking 5/20 from 15 overs with nine maidens while Steve Bell took 5/40 from 21.4 overs with 10 maidens.

Wallan got off to a rough start with Ryan Cumberland (10) and Russell Whittingham (0) falling in quick succession with Wallan 2/23.

Opener Kieran Atkin was bowled for 30 as Wallan fell to 3/49 and Weshal (9*) and captain Brad Regan (24*) looked to get going before play was stopped with no result anticipated.

Wallan remains second on the Johnstone Shield ladder with the draw, just two points ahead of Bacchus Marsh and six points behind East Sunbury.

The Magpies travel to Rupertswood for a two-dayer on Saturday before hosting East Sunbury in a final round blockbuster.
