Netball wins to Romsey and Wallan

Romsey got the best of Lancefield as the local derby took to the netball court as the Redbacks defeated the Tigers 65-34.

Romsey started well, taking an 11-goal lead after the first quarter. Lancefield could’ve been closer but poor shooting was costly as the Tigers made just two of eight shots in the first.

Lancefield picked their game up in the second term, going goal for goal with the Redbacks.

Tigers goal shooter Jordan Furness and Redbacks goal shooter Chelsea Ross each made 12 of 13 shots.

Romsey put its foot down in the third term, blowing the lead out of 25 goals thanks to 17 goals from Ross.

Lancefield didn’t take the loss laying down, scoring 12 goals in the fourth quarter while Romsey added 18 to seal the win.

Ross ended the day with a massive 48 goals on just 50 shots while goal attack Rhiannon Ezard chipped in with 17 goals on 22 shots.

Furness ended up with 24 goals on 32 shots with help from goal attack Genevieve Zoch’s 10 goals.

Wallan ran over the top of Melton Centrals at home with a 58-21 win.

Goal shooter Chloe Meulenmeesters led the Magpies with 33 goals on 41 shots while Tess Grimmond and Matilda Lethlean scored 13 goals each.

Meanwhile, Broadford went down to Rockbank 47-27 on the road.

Kate Berger scored 20 goals for the Kangaroos on 24 shots in the loss.

In other results, Macedon defeated Riddell 51-47 on the road and Rupertswood held onto their top spot with a 43-39 win over Diggers Rest at home.
