Wallan came back from the bye with fresh legs and ran away with a 32-point win over Melton Centrals on Saturday.
The Blues took advantage of their home ground, starting well and getting the jump on the Magpies who took a moment to blow out the cobwebs from a week off with a 4.7 (31) to 2.2 (14) first term.
Wallan replied by holding Melton Centrals to a single behind in the second term and kicking 4.8 (32) to take a 14-point lead into half-time.
Melton Centrals pushed the Magpies in the third, kicking two goals to one into the breeze, which brought the margin back to nine points at the final break.
With the breeze behind them, the Magpies cashed in with a massive seven-goal final term to run away with the win.
Wallan assistant coach Spencer Mathieson said it was a good to get a win over a persistent side on their home deck and the Magpies put in a good effort across the ground.
“Patty Mahoney, Sean Morris, Ricky Schraven, Nathan Fowler, Matt Perri and Bill Direen were excellent down back but we had a solid contribution from many lads today,” he said.
Wallan are now sixth on the RDFNL ladder with a record of 5-3 but have a game in hand over fifth-placed Rupertswood.
Wallan hosts Lancefield at Greenhill Reserve on Saturday.
