Len Baker’s Sulky Snippets – July 14, 2026

KILMORE raced again last Wednesday with an even seven-event card with two local winners on the program.

Bolinda trainer Alison Alford and husband Chris were successful with beautifully bred 5YO What The Hill-Cold Sister mare Aldebaran Susan in the 1690 metre Coulter Legal Trotters Mobile.

Bred by Colleen Aiken and raced by her and Duncan McPherson’s Aldebaran Lodge Pty Ltd, Aldebaran Susan starting solo on the second line settled midfield in the running line as Bolinda trained Queen Kizen led from gate two.

With plenty of pressure being applied by Off Your Faceski (gate three) through the middle stages, Aldebaran Susanne moved up stylishly three wide approaching the final bend and finished her race off well to record a 4.3 metre margin over polemarker Majestic Tooth also Bolinda trained which trailed the leader with honest gelding Dels Destiny (gate four – three pegs) running his usual honest race for third 3.8 metres away. The mile rate was 1.58.

Brent Lilley combined with Nathan Jack aboard French-bred 3YO gelding Just Me And You in the C&M Build Group Maiden Trotters Mobile over 2180 metres.

Trailing the leader and stablemate Kyvalley Reeva (gate five) from the pole before swapping positions shortly after the start, Just Me And You given every chance at the head of affairs just lasted by a neck from Sambezia (gate three – one/one) in a 2.06.8 mile rate. Lezama raced exposed from outside the front line when holding third 22.3 metres back.

Allendale trainer Basil Dooley’s reliable 8YO Blissful Hall-Miles Of Smiles mare Asmileandawinks chalked up her 17th victory in 148 outings when taking the 1690 metre O’Briens Electrical Pace.

Driven by Ewa Justice, Asmileandawinx (gate two) followed the poleline leader Hurrikane Dusty before the pair were passed by Shazza Love at the bell which had made a lightning three-wide move from the rear to take over.

Angling into the clear on straightening, Asmileandawinx ran home best to prevail by a half neck in a rate of 1.56.4 from Hurrikane Dusty along the sprint lane. Mister Jimaringle (gate two second line) after going forward three-wide solo in the last lap was third a metre back.

Kyabram part-owner/trainer Graham Lyon was in the winners stall following the victory of Rock N Roll Heaven-Neishars Jet filly Heavenly Flyer in the Kilmore Ford 3YO Maiden Pace over 1690 metres.

Bred and raced by a large group which includes HRV Board member Dennis Bice, Heavenly Flyer driven by James Herbertson settled one/one from gate three and after going forward three-wide in the last lap, raced away to record a 7.1 metre margin over Heavenly Nikky one/two from inside the second line and Takao (gate six) which raced exposed finishing three metres away. The mile rate was 1.57.4.

It was great to see Dunnstown’s David Murphy a winner after 4YO Cardigan Boko-Eureka Encounter mare Met With A Shrug scored in the 2180 metre JC Windows Trotters Mobile.

Driven by son Brent for mother Erin, Met With A Shrug following two placings prior settled on the back of the leader I Am Harro (gate five) enjoying a cosy trip, Met With A Shrug eased away from the inside on the final bend and finished her race off well to register a 8.3 metre margin over polemarker Little Tedey (three pegs) which used the sprint lane, with Im Miss Royalty after a slow beginning from a solo second line draw (one/four) also using the sprint lane from the tail for third 8.9 metres back. The mile rate was 2.04.7. David had been enduring a tough time in recent months but is on the road to recovery.

Costerfield breeder/part-owner/trainer Michael Tobin combined with Leigh Sutton to land the MC Labour Pace over 2180 metres with Queenhigh Flush, a 5YO daughter of Art Major and Alta Flamenco.

Beginning best to lead from gate five, Restrained to allow local Miki Mark to assume control after going forward from gate four, Queenhigh Flush after a sweet passage was eased off the inside on the home turn and ran on best to register a 2.1 metre victory from Miki Mark. Rank outsider Belvu Bandit (gate three) finished with a wet sail from the rear for third 1.6 metres back. The mile rate was 2.01.9.

Kyabram owner/trainer/driver Paul Railton’s has shown rapid improvement in recent outings and after a number of placings returned to the winners list in the Picklebet ‘Get Your Pickle On’ Trotters Mobile over 2180 metres.

Taken back from gate four to settle four pegs as speedy Patnwill took up his usual front running role from gate three, Money Talks moved to be one/one in the last lap and after anging three-wide on the home turn, raced clear as the winning post loomed to score by three metres from Patnwill who wouldn’t give in without a fight. Polemarker Player Del Carmen was third 7.5 metres back after trailing the leader. The mile rate was a pedestrian 2.08.1.

Kilmore races again on Thursday.
