WITH the start of cricket season two months away, teams are starting to finalise their preparations for 2025/26, and the Gisborne and District Cricket Association (GDCA) has followed suit by releasing the draw for the McIntyre Cup.
The competition will welcome Wallan back into the competition following its Johnstone Shield triumph in March, and they begin its season with a trip to Tony Clarke Recreation Reserve to take on Macedon on October 4.
The Magpies will then hold their first home game the following week when they host Woodend at Greenhill Reserve.
After falling to Gisborne in the semi-final stages last year, Romsey will be hoping to rebound and go a step further this season, and will host fellow 2024/25 finalist Sunbury United at Romsey Recreation Reserve to open its campaign.
Broadford successfully survived its first campaign back in the McIntyre Cup last year, and will be hoping to take a step forward in 2025/26. They’ll travel to Kyneton Recreation Reserve to take on Woodend in their first game, before hosting Rupertswood for its first home game at Harley Hammond Reserve the following week.
Another highlight of the campaign includes a long-awaited 2023/24 grand final rematch between Wallan and Broadford at Greenhill Reserve in round four, with a return meeting at Harley Hammond Reserve in the final round.
The remaining schedules, including Johnstone Shield and Jensen Shields, will be revealed as the season creeps closer.
