BROADFORD Men’s Shed celebrated National Volunteer Week in style recently, bringing up their 20th anniversary with a sit-down meal and a celebration of two decades of work.
Held at their traditional home at the Broadford Living and Learning Centre on Thursday, May 22, 40 attendees made the most of their lunch, which included pizzas which were cooked from their long-awaited pizza oven project.
The club has continued to grow since its inception in 2005, which began as a Broadcare program through then-manager Paul McCauley, and now boasts 30 members, who are at the Shed every Thursday from 10 am to 3 pm.
Most importantly, a celebration of the members who have shaped the Broadford Men’s Shed was also held.
Life memberships were handed to John Brissett and Tren Harvey, who were two of the six original members from its opening, receiving a plaque and medals for their achievements.
The Broadford Men’s Shed also recognised the efforts of those who have supported them with community awards.
