The Goulburn River Trail parkrun in Seymour marked a significant milestone last month—its one year anniversary.
The 45th event celebrated not only the beauty of the Goulburn River Trail, but also a full year of weekly parkrun gatherings.
The event drew 58 participants from across Australia and beyond, including visitors from South Africa, Melbourne, regional Victoria, and interstate, as well as locals.
Runners of all ages and abilities came together to enjoy the scenic, river-side course.
To commemorate the occasion, a post-run gathering was held at Lions Park, where participants gathered to socialise, share stories, and enjoy a morning coffee from the coffee van.
The celebration was made possible thanks to a dedicated team of volunteers and parkrun co-event directors, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
Since its launch on October 28 last year, the Goulburn River Trail parkrun has seen remarkable growth with over 145 volunteers and 1763 participants completing the course, achieving a total of 252 personal bests.
Looking ahead, Co-Event Directors Peter Nunn and Lucy Linton encouraged more people to join the weekly event, whether as participants or volunteers. The event is inclusive of all paces and levels of experience, offering an opportunity to improve physical, mental, and social wellbeing while connecting with others in a supportive community.
The Goulburn River Trail parkrun takes place every Saturday morning at 8am at Lions Park in Seymour.
