Council will be taking several motions to the first State Council meeting of the Municipal Association of Victoria for 2024.
In all there will be six motions presented to the meeting including a call to increase funding to build back following disasters, making sure communities are heard in emergency management and for government to ensure the timely delivery of new schools.
Cr Bill Chisholm said that actions need to be strengthened in the wake of disasters.
“Telecommunications problems need to be addressed along with the need to do something about the ageing CFA fleet of fire trucks many of which are over 30 years old,” Cr Chisholm said.
Other motions include a call on the Allen government to increase funding available to councils to enable road maintenance and upgrades along with funding to support councils to manage the cost impact of cultural heritage management plans and increased support for the management of heritage structures.
