Another phenomenal season for Kilmore and District Little Athletics Club, finishing off with a presentation day on March 16 at the JJ Clancy Reserve.
The club saw 122 registered athletes this year ranging from under six-years-old to 17, many who were acknowledged for their efforts this season at the presentation.
Many young athletes were awarded on the day, with awards for junior athlete of the year, centre athlete of the year, centre personal best award and life membership awards.
Junior athlete awards were handed out while athlete awards went out to ages from 10 and over.
The warm day also included presentation activities such as the 100m sprint races for all ages and parents and a vortex throw challenge.
President Brent Sullivan said it was rewarding to see the participants be acknowledged after a great year.
“It’s rewarding to see all the kids get rewarded at the end of year from a fantastic season, we had 12 meets throughout the year,” he said.
“We had a lot of athletes that held and broke centre records … we had four life members.
“We had a couple of athletes representing Australia in the state championship that did really well.”
Mr Sullivan said the new recreation hub, which opened earlier this month with new little athletic facilities and other recreational use, ‘boosted’ the overall presentation.
“Obviously having the new facility really boosted the overall field feeling of our presentation this year,” he said.
“It was really good from a committee’s point of view, really rewarding that the kids could be recognised for their achievements throughout the year in a brand-new facility.”
The new season will start in October, with 12 individual events expected throughout the year at the new JJ Clancy Reserve that will be put to good use by the club.
