Apart from a spot of misty rain at the opening, the weather was perfect for the third Whittlesea Garden Expo.
The stalls boasted cut flowers, potted plants, trees of all kinds, bulbs, preserves, planter bins and garden art. In short, there was something for everyone.
There were lots of coloured pots and even beautifully engraved name tags for the plants planted in them. The little glasshouse proved to be a warm spot for patrons to have a rest.
While those attending browsed for that special something, they were entertained by the Whittl C Ukes playing old-time songs that got the feet stamping and Wood n Wire playing memorable background music.
The children had fun at the activity tables, running around completing tasks outside or enjoying the animals in the petting farm. With good coffee and good food, the experience was complete.
Melissa King and Chloe Thomson did presentations, answered questions during the weekend and some of the expert stallholders also did presentations which were very well-received.
Sunday visitors were impressed by the classic car (generously loaned by Chris from ‘Tagged for Life’) in the middle of the display area. Surrounded by colourful roses, it certainly made a statement.
The Whittlesea Garden Expo is organised by the Rotary Club of Whittlesea, and monies raised go to projects run by the club, many in the local community.
The organisation of the Expo included many volunteers along with support from local businesses, local clubs, the City of Whittlesea and other Rotary Clubs.
Organisers have thanked the stallholders and patrons who supported the community event.
