Regional industry leaders discussed how to plan for their workforce at an industry breakfast at GOTAFE’s Seymour campus last month.
About 35 people attended the breakfast organised by GOTAFE, in response to feedback from employers about the need to connect, share ideas and strategies to support workforce planning.
The breakfast included a panel discussion with industry and education leaders, covering topics such as embracing diversity in the workplace with contextualised learning opportunities and how to grow a skilled workplace.
The speaking panel featured Goulburn Options outcomes manager Megan Montgomery, Koala Cherries human resources manager Vicki Kennedy, Victorian Skills Authority Goulburn Industry Engagement senior skills advisor Kate Storer and Seymour College careers practitioner Carol Fisher.

GOTAFE’s executive director growth and engagement Hannah Turnball said the breakfast was well received by attendees.
“The importance of building strong and meaningful connections between students and employers was a common theme throughout the morning,” she said.
“There is a wealth of knowledge and experience across our region and by sharing approaches, we can grow the talent pool to support communities we operate in.
“We had a great response to the event, and this will help inform future industry partnerships, as we continue to collaborate to build strong career pathways across our region.”
