Competition to crown Macedon Ranges’ best plant-based dish

Popular Stories

In what is believed to be an Australian first, cafes and pubs in the Macedon Ranges Shire will battle it out this year for the newest food prize, the Edgy Veg award, recognising the shire’s best plant-based dish as voted by customers.

About 20 of the most innovative and creative cafes and pubs in the Macedon Ranges will participate, and customers will be able to comment and vote on the featured dishes over the Autumn Festival from March 25 to April 26.

All the dishes will feature on The Edgy Veg Trail, a map showing where to sample great plant-based food in the Macedon Ranges during the Autumn Festival.

The Edgy Veg award is designed to attract residents and tourists alike. Armed with a map of all the venues with plant-based dishes, people can impress their friends by taking them to some of the shire’s eateries.

According to a MedAlertHelp statistic, if everyone went vegan, the world’s emissions related to food would drop 70 per cent by 2050.

Maps can be collected at any Macedon Ranges tourist information centre, or viewed online where dishes can also be voted for, by visiting veg.mrsg.org.au/edgy-veg-awards.
