Victorians impacted by the extended lockdown can apply for COVID-19 Disaster Payments from this Friday, July 23.

Eligible people will be able to get $600 per week if they have lost 20 or more hours of work, up from $500 in the last circuit-breaker lockdown, and $375 per week if they have lost between 8 and less than 20 hours of work, or a full day of work.

Victorians will be able to submit an application from this Friday, with myGov being the fastest and easiest way to claim. Information will be available ahead of Friday on the Services Australia website.

Minister for Emergency Management and National Recovery and Resilience, Senator Bridget McKenzie, said the Federal Government is standing with Victorians as the situation continues to evolve.

“Claiming the individual payment online via myGov is the quickest and easiest option,” Ms McKenzie said.

“The payment is now recurring and automatically paid for any future weeks of a lockdown.”

Minister for Government Services, Senator the Hon Linda Reynolds CSC said Services Australia will be able to take Victorian claims from Friday.

“To get ready, Victorians should set up their myGov accounts so they can claim quickly and easily online,” Minister Reynolds said.

“If you can claim online on Friday please do, so the phone lines can support those who need extra assistance.”

More information about financial support available to Victorians, and how to claim, will be available on the Services Australia website on Friday at
