Despite temporary speed restrictions being introduced months ago, there are no plans for improvement works on a section of Kilmore-Lancefield Road.
An approximate five-kilometre stretch of road was reduced from 100km/h to 80km/h along with slippery road and ‘do not overtake’ signs earlier this year after an inspection by Regional Roads Victoria.
RRV northern regional director Brian Westley said RRV frequently carried out maintenance and road hazard inspections across the region, including on Kilmore-Lancefield Road.
“Following an inspection earlier this year, our crews temporarily reduced the speed limit on an older section of Kilmore-Lancefield Road to ensure safety until improvement works can be completed,” he said.
“We understand this can be frustrating for drivers, but our first priority is to keep people safe on our network.
“Our road safety experts will continue monitoring the area as this year’s maintenance blitz rolls out to improve 268 kilometres of road across north central Victoria.”
A different stretch of Kilmore-Lancefield Road had previously been under temporary speed restrictions, with one section reduced to 40km/h, for more than a year before improvement works took place.
