A WALLAN house fire at Roulston Way on Thursday night has left a family devastated.

The fire caused the garage roof to collapse, damage to the main bedroom and smoke damage to the rest of the home.

Wallan Fire Brigade captain Nathan Anderson said the call to emergency services was made early.

“The neighbours made the call early which meant we arrived on scene and stopped the spread of the fire,” Mr Anderson said.

“I was first on scene, but when the rest of the crew arrived we began an aggressive internal and external attack.”

Mr Anderson said no one was injured during the fire, which was under control in 15 minutes.

“We had some police on scene to do traffic control. No emergency services volunteers were hurt, and no one was home during the time of the fire,” he said.

Craigieburn, Kilmore and Wandong fire brigades were also on scene.

Mr Anderson said it was important people checked their smoke alarms, battery chargers and heaters.

“The cause of the fire is still being investigated, but at this point it could’ve been anything,” he said.
